Watt d'or 2007: Eawag wins another energy prize

Eawag’s new head office “Forum Chriesbach” is the winner of the “Watt d’or prize 2007” in the category of “Energy technologies, systems and appliances”. The prize was awarded by the Member of the National Council, Chiara Simoneschi-Cortesi, and proudly received by Ueli Bundi, director of Eawag (until December 31, 2006) and Bob Gysin, architect, on January 8, 2007 in Bern. A total of eight projects in the different categories successfully managed to receive the new, prestigious award. With the “Watt d’or prize” the Federal Department of the Environment, Transport, Energy and Communications awards outstanding performances and trendsetting innovations in energy-related fields. The "Watt d’Or " does not take the form of prize money and will be awarded annually in the future. “The new head office of Eawag is breaking new ground in the area of sustainability in the construction sector,” Chiara Simoneschi- Cortesi said in her laudation and added: “And the best thing thereby is, the 1.4 liter house does not cost more than a conventional comparable building .”
